The Next Gig - featuring New Works by Netherland will be opening January 13th at Rotofugi (and exhibiting thru February 5, 2012). The online preview is currently up for viewing via www.rotofugi.com - whereby you'll see a host of imagery with collaged heads (which reminds me loads of Adriean Koleric's work) and this couple of swell figurines made from acrylic and resin on Obitsu Doll Body - Say hello to "Marsha" and "Greg"! (The bobble-head has already been spoken for).

What is as well interesting are the images from Jeremy Tinder, The Little Friends of Printmaking, Travis Lampe and Marc Atomos Pilon done for the show. The image from Tinder (above far-left) is also a Giclée print (Edition of 25) measuring 13"x19" and available for US$25. Do check with Rotofugi for availability.

About the Artist: Artist/ gallery curator David "Netherland" van Alphen lives and works in Chicago, Illinois. Though David's family was from Holland, he was born in Toronto, and has been in Chicago for the last eight years. Being a child of the 70's has influenced him greatly and is reflected in most of his work. Juxtaposing images, his color choices and the new modern context comes through his nostalgic imagery and helps to isolate and enhance them into a beautiful montage. David does not resize, photocopy or scan any of the images he uses. All images are cut directly from their original source and and pieced together to keep each piece unique. David has shown at many galleries throughout the U.S. and sold out his first solo show in January 2008.
