A Little Stranger: Seen @ ToyConUK 2013
I've had a little chat with Holly Stanway aka A Little Stranger, and creator of HeyCavey plush about her experiences with the inaugural ToyConUK - which saw a slew exclusives unleashed, and the surprise debut of her Vinyl Caveys in the new PINK and BLACK colorways (ohgawds but I want them). Read+View-ON, folks!
TOYSREVIL: How was the ToyCon for you? Your impressions? Was it what you expected it to be?
HOLLY STANWAY: The day went great! One thing i really took away from it is how much the UK was crying out for an event like this - the sense of community and enthusiasm was insane! Likewise the quality of everyone's work and exclusives was really high. I love going to cons, and my favorite part of doing them is getting to meet everyone, especially when i get to meet online friends in real life!
TOYSREVIL: Tell us what you had on your table! And which of your items had the warmest reception / best response?
HOLLY STANWAY: For the Cavey side of my booth I had an exclusive cavey Toyconcaveysaurus in both a plush and vinyl version, and a collaboration with Sergery Safonov; a porcelain 'Moon Cavey'. Both went down really well and I had a great time with Sergey doing our Moon Cavey signing. We also had our first appearance of pink and black Vinyl Cavey - which i kept a secret before hand :)
Offline, i did a non-con Toyconcaveysaurs for those who couldn't make it to ToyCon - they sold out in just a couple of minutes!
For the A Little Stranger side of things i had art prints, a super limited (just 3!) Tcon plush, and of course - Tcon vinyl!
TOYSREVIL: Any suggestions to make the event even more awesome in the future?
HOLLY STANWAY: Obviously I'd like to see the event grow, but one of the best things was the sense of community that the day had. I think that's something that it's really important to keep.
I'd also like to see some more artists from Europe and around the world. I think we surprised people this yea with just how much talent there is in the UK and hopefully that will attract some guys (and girls) from overseas.
The panels and workshops were awesome so I'd love to see more of those!
