Folks unfamiliar with the story-concept - this is my "Cliff Notes'" version: Thanos fell in love with "Lady Death", a visage he saw of a girl wearing a shroud (when instead it was a skeleton within) and decided to conquer universes in her name. Death and destruction for LOVE … aaahhh yes … This notion happened in the "Infinity Gauntlet" storyline from MARVEL comics.
