"Woodland Orphans" by Yosiell Lorenzo @ Rotofugi (Jan 10 - Feb 9.2014)

ROTOFUGI-SAID: "We're happy to be presenting new works by Oakland, California-based artist Yosiell Lorenzo in his first exhibit with Rotofugi Gallery. We're in love with Yosiell's use of a rich variety of textures in both his sculptural work and paintings and think you'll be as entranced by his work as we are."

Artwork previews for "Woodland Orphans" by Yosiell Lorenzo can be viewed online here (all images here via). We've been used to seeing Yosiell's 3-dimensional "Sicklings"-sculpts, so it is a treat to see his painted artwork, which adds further depth to his works thus far, IMHO. "Woodland Orphans" exhibits thru February 9, 2014.

I felt that the Woodland Orphans somehow seemed connected to his Sicklings (which to me, made a lot of sense, IMHO), so I bugged Yosiell about that, and this was his reply:
"... so yes the Woodland Orphans are tied in with the Sicklings ... they live in this fictitious forest called The Black Twig Forest … They pretty protect the Sicklings from humans. There is a much bigger story to all of this but I will be releasing that hopefully next month along with a new website dedicated to the Sicklings.. but I will give you more info on that as I finish things up ... I'm also really glad that you caught on to that the woodland orphans are attached to the sicklings!"(Above cropped event image from Rusty Harris-Bishop)
