"Damsel In Distress" - solo show by Ario Anindito @ Tree House Kemang, Jakarta (Opens June 14)

EVENT PRESS: "Ario Anindito, a very talented young artist from Bandung, whose comic-book style illustration has drawn the attention of DC Comics - for whom he now is a regular contributor - is throwing a rare art show at Tree House Kemang, where he will be showcasing all new, original artwork.

This show, entitled "Damsel In Distress", is a series of visual imagery, a modern twist on the old-time classic fairy tales that we are all familiar with. You will see Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and many others, in the context of today's realistic modern world,
facing the same old issues brought into a somewhat darker vision..

This exhibition's purpose is to raise awareness about the issues faced by fairy tale characters in a real-world context; women's rights, gender inequality and abuse, in an effort to show our local community that it DOES happen around us, and we can do something about it, even if it's just changing our mindsets."
