Toy-Review: Kibunadon The Fish Kaiju by Teresa Chiba x Max Toy Co

Kibunadon the Fish Kaiju is designed by artist Teresa Chiba, the winner of the Kaiju Gals Design-a-Kaiju contest held on the TOYSREVIL-blog in 2013. This particular colorway shown here today is the second painted USA release, and was priced at US$40, first released circa September of 2014. And while no quantities were revealed, you can still purchase the item online here on maxtoyco.com!

Arriving bagged and tagged, the figure itself features articulation in both it's front fins, back fin, and "neck", which ultimately gave it more playability and possibility, that if I had any skill or patience, would make a stop-motion clip of the kaiju fish "swimming" (instead of the disco-party in the video at bottom of this post LOL)!
Color choice for this edition is my favorite compared to others seen. The orange and pink combos make it succulent, while the gold accents POP from beyond the twilight soaked mediterranean sea shore of dreams :)
Paint-app is pretty spot-on, and as well the integrity of Japan-made sofubi should not be in doubt, with the material here in harder vinyl and non-squishible.

And while it may not be as apparent in online images (or maybe it had been and I am of course looking at them via one-eye patch :p), but the sculpted relief+deboss details are pretty sweet, and defines the design aesthetics, like the eye-flames, layered fins etc. Major kudos to Makino-san of TTToys, Japan, for the splendid sculpt!
Truth be told, I had my apprehensions when this particular design was voted in (absolutely no disrespect for Teresa!), and I was nigh intrigued to see it being made 3-dimensional toy, and I am - with item in hand - thoroughly convinced and delighted.
Kibunadon is a "Party Fish", and a "Kaiju Friend"! LOL
