Indra Gunawan's GACHA @ #PopconAsia 2015
Making a spectacular splash last year at the annual Popcon Asia, Indra Gunawan's "Toy Kultur" took on a new focus this year with "GACHA" at Popcon Asia 2015 (Aug 7-9), with the booth as well hosted two other Indonesian artists and as many product lines, including TheGoodHabit and Little Bunny Family.
Taking centerstage was Indra's very own resin collectible GACHA - with 6 x one-off customs paints and a 10-pece edition run of Popcon Edition colorway Gachas (I'll take a closer look at this cutie in the near future - thanks for the gift, Indra!), and it was smiles and phone-snaps aplenty at the booth!
GACHA was borne from a design competition, and this current incarnation is his second design after being tweaked by Indra, who had self-produced this cheerful fella in resin. The first unpainted prototype of Gacha was shown at last year's Popcon Asia, while he made his debut in color earlier this year at NotAToyShow held in Plastic Culture, in March earlier this year.
And while folks might mistake his name as "gacha" short for "gashapon", the name "Gacha" here is actually a combination of "Gojira/Godzilla", and "cha" - which means "tea", as the first version of Gacha had him blissfully holding a piping hot cuppa! And while the cup may not be present in this current version, Indra plans to have it holding more variety of yummies!
