R.I.P. David Bowie (1947 - 2016)

The Musician known thru the ages as The "Thin White Duke" has passed on January 10th, 2016, losing his 18-month long battle with cancer.

David Bowie had turned 69 years old on Saturday, on January 9th, and had just released his 26th studio album, "★ (Blackstar)".

An undeniable influence on my soundscape of youth, I recognize I had been taking his talent and songs for granted all these years ... surrounded now by CDs but unable to play on my busted laptop player, of neglecting his songs for far too long ... but his legacy remains eternal, and I/we could always find ways to listen to his songs, again...

Featured below are select images of the musician, interpreted by artists known to this blog, not surprisingly featuring the visage of Bowie as "Ziggy Stardust" - an icon of the 70s, and in our collective psyches of the musical hero.

January 10 2016: "David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief." (www.davidbowie.com)

And the stars look very different today. :(
