kult’s Choking Hazard: Closing Day on March 18th + Mini Toy Festival

WHAT ACTIVITIES AT THE MINI TOY FESTIVAL (Facebook Events):

⚠ ART JAM WITH ARTISTS (3-6PM)
The courtyard of Emily Hill will be transformed into a giant canvas for local artists to freely express themselves. Contributing artists to Kult Gallery’s Choking Hazard and Kult Magazine’s Toys issue will be present during this time to create inspired artwork. You're welcome to add to the canvas with art materials provided by Kult Gallery.

⚠ HENNA TOY TATTOO (4-7PM)
Wear your toy love with pride at the Henna Toy Tattoo booth. Henna tattoo collective Henndrawn (@henn.drawn on Instagram) will be on site with a catalogue of toy-inspired designs you can get “inked” on your arms. Henna tattoos range between SGD 15 - 20 and take 5 to 15 minutes to complete.

⚠ WEARABLE TOY WORKSHOP (3-5PM)

⚠ TOY ORCHESTRA (5-8PM)
Old children’s toys scavenged from Carousell and Sungei Road Thieves’ Market were dissected and circuit-bended to create a Toy Orchestra. The result is a disorienting mix of nostalgia and electronic sound by Kult Kafe.

⚠ SCREENING & MEET-THE-FILMMAKER SESSION (6-7PM)
As part of the festival, there will be a toy trailer screening by Rob Newberry, Director of Education Technology, Chatsworth Group of Schools (SG). Rob, a debut filmmaker, has been working with Colin Gallagher to showcase New In Box (Trailer above / www.newinbox.org), a short documentary film about toy collectors in Singapore. His film seeks to answer a fundamental question – what makes adults want to collect toys?
After the screening, there will be a short dialogue session with the filmmaker.

⚠ SOUND REACTIVE WALL (6-10PM)
When the sun goes down, projections come out to play. Mojoko’s dynamic and colourful sound reactive wall will provide the backdrop for your evening beer. Watch the images jump on screen to the rhythm and beats of Kult Kafe’s DJ console.
