Updated: Full Trailer for ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL Unleashed!
Since posting the trailer tease (see below), and waking up to this on a Saturday morning (Singapore time) was a delight and thrill! From visionary filmmakers James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez. #Alita Battle Angel is in theaters July 20, 2018.
Hollywood has yet again adapted a manga into a live-action cinematic extravaganza, with bringing the mobile phone app to enlarge folks’ eyes to full cinematic glory! LOL
I’m not knocking it as much as I have a feeling the general masses might give leeway to the decision to get used to the visual aesthetics, because “James Cameron”, so perhaps everyone could get on board the “visionary filmmaker”-schtick - the same folks who might have missed out on jumping on during the “Avatar” period?
Be that as it may, I personally am willing to give it a benefit of the doubt for the time being, like I did Rupert Sanders’ “GHOST IN THE SHELL” … I reckon there’s no sense in getting “disappointed” with anything until after seeing it in it’s entirety … and that there’ll be PLENTY of time to “dislike” afters, innit? LOL :)
Seen from the trailer, the visuals here are “interesting” but somewhat “generic” - undoubtably amidst our collective absorption of video game design, anime/animated, cyber-punked worlds of the maybe-apocalyptic urban future … and truthfully, nothing shown thus far could distract from seeing Alita’s enlarged “anime-eyes”, alas.
But all these are not “put downs”, as I am jazzed and excited to see MORE of what #ALITA holds for us!
You can continue gawking at more screen grabs since uploaded on TOYSREVILX Facbook, while you can check out my #iNotOtaku-post for a look at the 55-minuter OVA (Original Video Animation) for the “classic” BATLE ANGEL ALITA (in Japanese language with English subtitles)!
ALITA: BATTLE ANGELHer journey begins tomorrow. #Alita
