Colin Hoffman / Big C for "ByeBye2018 Hello2019"
WHAT-IS: "ByeBye2018 Hello2019" is a serial feature where select artists share with us their past year in 2018, and what to expect from them in 2019!"

TOYSREVIL: How was 2018 for you? Share with us your most triumphant moment(s) in 2018. What did you find the most disappointed of 2018?
BIG C: 2018 was very difficult, losing my mother, who was my entire support system. So it was much more difficult to do anything and everything. I was still able to accomplish so much. I participated in group shows at WootBear Staff, Clutter Magazine Gallery, My Plastic Heart Designer Toys, Piq'Art Gallery (grand central Station), Mothership ToyGallery, 3DRetro, Tenacious Toys (NyCC), and the Fine Art Masters Show(curated by the Peninsula art museum). I stepped up my convention schedule, in addition to DesignerCon, I exhibited at Five Points Festival, Silicon Valley Comic Con, & Walker Stalker Convention/Heroes & Villains Fan Fest (where quite a few celebrities became fans of my work).
BIG C: I released my first book, Baby Fatts: The World's First Dragon, and it is already being taught in schools & comforting children in multiple hospitals. Please keep helping spread the word. Took quite a few steps into the sofubi/kaiju world. Skull Cans, Little Killers, Zapped Cans, Baby Fatts hats, Baby Drips, were just some of the new products/lines and concepts.
TOYSREVIL: What is your most favorite movie you've seen in 2018?
BIG C: The Bohemian Rhapsody movie was so full of energy, life & fun. Such an amazing inspiration.
TOYSREVIL: What are you most looking forward to in 2019? Any plans for your work, for the new year you can share with us? Or not share with us, but can tease us with?
BIG C: I have so many projects in the works, but I have to be very careful about what I reveal. I am very excited to show my work at the Monsterpalooza convention. It's always fun to get new eyes on my work.
TOYSREVIL: Share with us, WHO you are and what you do?
BIG C: In many circles I am known as Big C. I am a: sculptor, painter, illustrator, designer, and writer. I draw inspiration from my experiences as a disabled marine veteran with PTSD, a single father, and life in general. I create whatever my muse inspires me to do, without the burden of "what will sell". There is a piece of my soul in everything I do.
