"Beautiful" Promo for Godzilla: King of the Monsters

New 60-seconder featuring both seen-before visuals and new, edited to make slightly more sense, IMHO. Epic chills when I realised the remote-controlled jet fighter planes were guarding/supporting Godzilla, instead of heading towards engaging him! And with "Somewhere over the rainbow" playing in the background? FFFUUUUUUUU!

"Following the global success of ā€œGodzillaā€ and ā€œKong: Skull Islandā€ comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Picturesā€™ and Legendary Picturesā€™ cinematic Monsterverse: ā€œGodzilla: King of the Monsters,ā€ an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history.
The film was directed by Michael Dougherty (ā€œKrampusā€), and stars Kyle Chandler (ā€œThe Wolf of Wall Street,ā€ ā€œManchester by the Seaā€) as well as Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga (ā€œUp in the Air,ā€ ā€œThe Conjuringā€ films); Millie Bobby Brown (ā€œStranger Thingsā€) in her feature film debut; Bradley Whitford (ā€œGet Outā€); Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins (ā€œShape of Waterā€, ā€œBlue Jasmineā€); Charles Dance (HBOā€™s ā€œGame of Thronesā€); Thomas Middleditch (HBOā€™s ā€œSilicon Valleyā€); Aisha Hinds (ā€œStar Trek Into Darknessā€); Oā€™Shea Jackson Jr. (ā€œStraight Outta Comptonā€); Oscar nominee David Strathairn (ā€œGood Night and Good Luckā€), with Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe (ā€œThe Last Samurai) and Golden Globe nominee Ziyi Zhang (ā€œMemoirs of a Geisha,ā€ ā€œCrouching Tiger, Hidden Dragonā€).

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-speciesā€”thought to be mere mythsā€”rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanityā€™s very existence hanging in the balance.

Dougherty directed from a script he wrote with Zach Shields, based on the character ā€œGodzillaā€ owned and created by TOHO CO., LTD. The film was produced by Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Brian Rogers, with Zach Shields, Barry Waldman, Hiro Matsuoka, Keiji Ota, Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira serving as executive producers, and Ali Mendes and Jay Ashenfelter co-producing for Legendary.

Behind the scenes, Doughertyā€™s creative team included director of photography Lawrence Sher, whose past credits include ā€œWar Dogsā€ and ā€œGodzilla,ā€ for which he handled additional photography; production designer Scott Chambliss (ā€œGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,ā€ ā€œStar Trek Into Darknessā€); editors Roger Barton (ā€œPirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,ā€ the ā€œTransformersā€ films), Oscar nominee Richard Pearson (ā€œUnited 93,ā€ ā€œKong: Skull Islandā€), and Bob Ducsay (ā€œGodzilla,ā€ ā€œStar Wars: The Last Jediā€); costume designer Louise Mingenbach (the ā€œX-Menā€ and ā€œHangoverā€ films); and Oscar-winning VFX supervisor Guillaume Rocheron (ā€œGodzilla,ā€ ā€œGhost in the Shell,ā€ and part of the Oscar-winning team behind ā€œLife of Piā€).

A presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, in association with Toho Co. Ltd., ā€œGodzilla: King of the Monstersā€ hits theaters beginning May 31, 2019. It will be distributed in 3D and 2D and IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures, except in Japan, where it will be distributed by Toho; and in China, where it will be distributed by Legendary East."
