#DTA2019 Showcase: CUSTOM OF THE YEAR
And for the final blog-feature today, we showcase the FAN/Public-Voted category in this year's Designer Toy Awards - with "CUSTOM OF THE YEAR" - where the award "(Recongizes) a single artist, artistic duo, or collective who transformed an existing Designer Toy into an individually expressive art object. Consideration will be based on the custom's merits of concept, paint execution, additional sculpting (if applicable), and overall attention to detail."

"PLEASE WAIT WHILE I JUMP OUT OF MY SKIN" from U.K. artist Mike Strick was made from a "BOO" resin figure (originally from @angryhedgehogtoys), for ToyCon UK 2018. Stay connected to his Insta @knightjar and his www @ sculpt.strick.co.uk.
"SILENT SCREAMS FROM OUTER-SPACE" from @riser13 was made from a Dero figure (originally by Jermaine Rogers), and was exhibited as part of Martian Toys' “Falling Apart” group custom show at New York Comic Con 2018.
Canadian artist Jim McKenzie made the "SPIDER SKULL" out of Ron English's "Heart Skull", and had it on show as part of @ronenglishart‘s Heart Skull Show at Clutter Gallery in 2018. Stay connected to his Insta @jimmckenzie.
"SUNNY THE SLOTH" from SeriouslysillyK was made for DTA custom Dunny show in 2018, and subsequently also on display at Five Points Festival 2018. The figure features "(a) removable bunny ear headband while day dreaming in a fully functional Miniature Hammock," which Kathleen @seriouslysillyk had built from scratch.
"WAR OF KINGS" from J*RYU was made with James Groman's KING KORPSE figure (made by INSTINCTOY), embraced by a scratch-built Dragon, and exhibited as part of INSTINCTOY's display&auction at Tokyo Comic Con 2018.
