Futura's "CONSTELLATION" Solo Exhibition in Singapore (May 30 - June 9)
Well, the "secret" is out, and New York street art legend FUTURA is in Singapore, where his solo art show “CONSTELLATION” launches May 30th @ Gillman Barracks (#02-21, 9 LOCK ROAD, SINGAPORE) for The Culture Story 無化艺廊, exhibiting through June 9th.
"Presented by The Culture Story and curated by Jahan Loh 罗杰瀚, CONSTELLATION is the Southeast Asian debut solo show of Futura, legendary contemporary street artist.
Featuring 30 specially commissioned works produced in Singapore during a two-week long residency, the exhibition will showcase Futura's distinctive abstract graffiti style in a series of bold, vibrant compositions marked by a repertoire of forms and iconic motifs he has come to be known for - characters, atoms and cranes." What had gotten my attention, was THIS incarnation of Futura's "Pointman" (released as "Nosferatu" from around 2005 .. I've only got loose 100% "UNKLE" Kubricks, so SMTL), seen here with new details - like larger "gloved hands" - all chromed-up gloriously, and named "FL-001", to which Hypebeast reported "is the first of a new sculpture series that has been shown to the public." Also happening on June 1st at Intermission Bar at The Projector is the ticketed "Futura: 60 Minutes with the Street Art Legend" (Details here on Facebook). And if you want to bring home some merch, there's the "Limited Edition Collector's Box Set" (SG$250.00) or the "Constellation Catalogue" (SG$98.00) ... but no, there is no sign of a "toy-replica" of the "FL-001" ... so far...
