"DI HUANG" (AKA THE KINGDOM) from NOMIWA x Unbox Industries for July 6/2019 Online Release
Scheduled for a release online here on Saturday July 6th (GMT: 16:00PM) is "DI HUANG" (AKA THE KINGDOM) from NOMIWA x Unbox Industries!
Standing 14.5 inches tall, this collectible features a marble effect soft vinyl with painted figures, is priced at US$175.00 per, coming in with a header and poly-bagged. Also note that "each figure is hand-pulled and cast in marbled vinyl, so each figure is unique and colors will vary"!
FYI: The figure is as well launched physically today at the "Singularity" event in Tainan.
Created and sculpted by @nomiwa2016 himself, Unbox describes this as "Meticulously cast in soft vinyl, the Kingdom is an imposing design with articulation and a removable 'Chop' (royal seal) housed in his back."
The details are clever adaptations of the architecture of a (forbidden) Emperor's palace, and are asthetically amazing! I adore the concept of the "imperial seal" housed at the back of the figure, like being "stabbed in the back" with the royal status... If this is the "irony" he had been trying to portray, then I Am Sold!
I had previously adored his "HANNYA & TENGU" Oni-interpretations of Spongebob and Patrick, and this just easily got on that wish-list!
Interestingly enough, a "Chinese" Emperor is called "Huáng Dì" ("皇帝"), and this twist of words makes this character even more intriguing too, IMHO!
And here's a "BOMUS" look at Nomiwa's WIP-sculpts, from 2017!
