Rato Kim x STREAMS for Beijing Toy Show 2019
South Korean toy designer Rato Kim revealed a trio of collectibles making their way to Beijing Toy Show 2019 (August 16-18), all of whom are produced by STREAMS and available at Booth: A02! Let's take a closer look at them, shall we?
MANEKIDARUMA 達摩猫 is a combination of Maneki neko and Daruma. The RED Manekidaruma is for good luck and fortune, while the Black Manekidaruma is to prevent bad luck. Both figures feature only a left eye since the owner will paint another eyes after the wish comes true.
This design closely follows the style-aesthetics seen in her "Boxcat" creations, and is a swell addition to the design of her "DINOCAT" in the "Art Toy Gacha" blind box series, made also with Streams.
Made in soft vinyl, each colorway edition is limited to only 40 sets. Size of item(s) and price TBC.
Rato Kim had wanted to make a toy to express herself, the result of which is "Yohoren". First made of resin and released in Taipei Toy Festival 2018, alongside "Hunter Boy" - as part of her "YOKAI" Series - the gentle beast is now made in soft vinyl, with the "original" colorway limited to 40 sets. Size of item and price TBC.
"The idea of Yohoren is from Jang San monster. Yohoren is blind, so it is sensitive to hearing. It has no soul. Yohoren hunts according to its instinct. Most importantly, it thinks human fears are the most delicious."
