MICKEY THE BULKYZ ROBOT from Disney x POP MART (for July 15th Release)
Look, I like me my "giant mecha"-styled toy, especially when it has an "operator/pilot" too! That said, I too enjoy a good retro-rebirth of concepts, and seeing THIS particular piece, really helped tick all the boxes! Introducing the MICKEY THE BULKYZ ROBOT from Disney x POP MART!
Officially licensed by Disney, featuring design by Hong Kong designer Foon Wong Hiroshi (IG @foons_creations / Art Director for @bigboystoys_hk), who has turned Mickey's boat (seen in the FIRST EVER DISNEY ANIMATION short "Steamboat Willie" - scroll thru to the bottom of this blogpost to view!), into a mecha-robot, complete with articulated arms and legs!
And while the "chunkiness" mirror the BULKYZ-style seen in BigBoysToys-releases (TMNT, Street Fighters), the forms are not as "angular" here, and follow more of the cartoon's organic shapes, IMHO.
