The Trailer for the Denis Villeneuve-directed DUNE has dropped, in anticipation of premiere on October 22, 2021 in select U.S. theaters in 2D and 3D and IMAX and on HBO Max (Scroll to the bottom for more on this). The film has been rated PG-13 for sequences of strong violence, some disturbing images and suggestive material.



Feuding royals, a deadly planet and a gifted young man who holds the destiny of everyone in his hands. Born to Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac) and Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), Paul (TimothƩe Chalamet) inherits stewardship of Arrakis (aka Dune), a dangerous desert wasteland that's home to vigilant natives (Zendaya as Chani) and melange (aka spice), the most precious resource in the entire universe. Known to extend life and grant its user with superhuman intellect and faster-than-light speed, they set out on a mining expedition to save what's left from malevolent forces that would do anything to get it. As they face mind-bending realities, raging rebellions, and giant sandworms, the future becomes clear: only those who can conquer fear will survive.

Villeneuve directed ā€œDuneā€ from a screenplay by Jon Spaihts and Villeneuve and Eric Roth based on the novel of the same name written by Frank Herbert. Villeneuve also produced the film with Mary Parent, Cale Boyter and Joe Caracciolo, Jr. The executive producers are Tanya Lapointe, Joshua Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert.



Behind the scenes, Villeneuve reteamed with two-time Oscar-nominated production designer Patrice Vermette (ā€œArrival,ā€ ā€œSicario,ā€ ā€œThe Young Victoriaā€), two-time Oscar-nominated editor Joe Walker (ā€œBlade Runner 2049,ā€ ā€œArrival,ā€ ā€œ12 Years a Slaveā€), two-time Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert (ā€œFirst Man,ā€ ā€œBlade Runner 2049ā€), and Oscar-winning special effects supervisor Gerd Nefzer (ā€œBlade Runner 2049ā€). He also collaborated for the first time with Oscar-nominated director of photography Greig Fraser (ā€œLion,ā€ ā€œZero Dark Thirty,ā€ ā€œRogue One: A Star Wars Storyā€); three-time Oscar-nominated costume designer Jacqueline West (ā€œThe Revenant,ā€ ā€œThe Curious Case of Benjamin Button,ā€ ā€œQuillsā€) and costume designer Robert Morgan; and stunt coordinator Tom Struthers (ā€œThe Dark Knightā€ trilogy, ā€œInceptionā€). Oscar-winning and multiple Oscar-nominated composer Hans Zimmer (ā€œBlade Runner 2049,ā€ ā€œInception,ā€ ā€œGladiator,ā€ ā€œThe Lion Kingā€) is creating the score.
