Shin-Cookiezilla V2 by Gabriel Marquez X Bottleneck Gallery
Bottleneck Gallery has released (and since SOLD OUT at time of this post), what is to be known as "Shin-Cookiezilla v2", with this hand-painted resin figure standing 11.25 inches tall. Priced at US100, this was in a limited edition of 400pcs.
Folks who saw my 2020 blog-features will recognise this figure (there was also another colorway launched too) ... but there is a "story" associated with the release then and now, as @bottleneckgallery explains:
"We previously released Gabriel’s Shin-Cookiezilla, one of our favorite original statue creations. Due to unforeseen shipping circumstances, a number of the statues were damaged in transit, so we worked on creating a more sturdy and resilient beast who could beat shipping foes and woes; thus the birth of Shin-Cookiezilla V2."
"We’ve been in contact with previous buyers of the original so that they are all taken care of, and we’re now able to release the remaining limited allocation. We hope these figures help remind everybody of Gabriel’s monstrous artistic talents.
The remaining batch of Gabriel’s Shin-Cookiezilla V2 figures will be available TODAY @ 12PM ET on our homepage! Please note due to the new packaging size, these will only ship domestically."
Besides the item itself, the Bottleneck-emailer also started with this unfortunate news...
"Hi, everybody--this blog is going to be bittersweet. Unfortunately, Gabriel Marquez has passed away unexpectedly. Gabriel was a truly talented sculptor and creator, and we hope his legacy will live on through his family, and through his many fans and his body of work."
Now I understand perhaps why my DM did not receive a reply (I had asked him directly if he was involved in anyway in "Dream Kaiju Studio CookieZilla" before I posted about it on TOYSREVIL, but ultimately never did post). Rest In Peace, @gabrielmarquezsculptor.
