New MET Showpiece Dunnys for Kidrobot X The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Metropolitan Museum of Art marks their 150th anniversary in a partnership with Kidrobot, continuing with a new series of Dunny-releases, for which I'll take a dedicated focus today on their 3-inch tall Showpiece Dunny line-up.

HOKUSAI GREAT WAVE (Limited edition of 2500pcs)
This limited-edition 3-inch Dunny presents a new take on The Great Wave by Katsushika Hokusai (Japanese, 1760–1849). The artful figure shows details from Hokusai’s famous woodblock print (ca. 1830–32), from his series of Edo-period prints in The Met collection.

This design is also available as a 20-inch tall Dunny, priced at US$535.00, in a edition of 200pcs. Now I really want to see a side-by-side size comparison snap LOL

MONET BOUQUET OF SUNFLOWERS (Limited edition of 2000pcs)
This limited-edition 3-inch Dunny celebrates Bouquet of Sunflowers by Claude Monet (French, 1840–1926). Based on his 1881 painting in The Met collection, the figure is adorned with Monet’s bold still life featuring a bouquet of sunflowers that grew along the pathway to his garden.

This design is also available as a 8-inch tall Dunny, priced at US$150.00, in a edition of 700pcs.

GREEK PANATHENAIC AMPHORA (Limited edition of 1700pcs)
This limited-edition 3-inch Dunny salutes the ancient world via details from an exceptional Greek vessel in The Met collection. Attributed to the Euphiletos Painter (ca. 530 B.C.), the original terracotta amphora (a vessel for holding liquids) depicts a footrace in the Panathenaic games.

DEMUTH I SAW THE FIGURE 5 IN GOLD (Limited edition of 1500pcs)
This limited-edition 3-inch Dunny pays tribute to I Saw the Figure 5 in Gold by Charles Demuth (American, 1883–1935). Based on his 1928 painting in The Met collection, the figure is covered in the artist’s abstract portrait of his friend, poet and physician William Carlos Williams.
This has to be my favouritest thus far, and would look phenomenal as a 8-inch tall Dunny, IMHO!

Do seek all featured Dunnys here online via kidrobot.com (or check in with your fav retailers who carry KR products). Each window boxed figure is priced at US$24.99 per.

And no, I am not "sponsored" to post these, but have been somewhat missing Dunny featuring skin designs from toy art folks ... when Dunnys were the go-to platform toys back in the days, where being apart of the line-up felt like a calling-card to being in the art toy scene, IMO. But it is what it is now, no doubt due to simple "economics".

OF COURSE I'd wanted an official "TOYSREVIL DUNNY", but alas I've never had any relationship with KR to even consider such a foolhardy notion LOL
