ALIEN XAM 2.0 from Paul Komoda X MaxToyCo
ABOVE: Concept art by Paul Komoda (Instagram / Twitter / Patreon) before sculpting the new Alien Xam 2.0 - the nemesis of Captain Maxx!
BELOW: The Alien Xam figure sculpture prototype done in Sculpey Firm by Paul Komoda, before the figure next goes to the wax stage in Japan, from which iron molds are made.
While awaiting Alien Xam to reach U.S. shores Mark Nagata painted (Acrylics on illustration board) what would be used as the header card for the figure. Mark added; "I seldom get time to paint but managed to do this one." with the original artwork for sale at his 2022 Dcon booth.
Sized 12.5 inches tall, the first edition to be released was the Glow-in-the-Dark Edition at DesignerCon, and since listed for sales online via www.maxtoyco.com (as of this blogpost). There was also a one-off hand-rubbed custom by Mark Nagata himself (priced at US$160, since Sold Out).
Max Toy Co also had a "surprise very small release" at Designfesta via @quackmaxx (MaxToy's MAN-IN-JAPAN). Here's a look at the fully-(production)-painted edition, and the magnificent editions after that!
The following edition (showcased below) made available for preorder, was a hand-rubbed version by artist James Osborne @kaijulegion, sold out since March!
Currently (as of this blogpost published) available on www.maxtoyco.com is the "Gold Dust" version featuring (Unpainted) cast in Tokyo with Black sofubi infused with Gold Dust! Priced at US$80 excluding shipping (Shipping only via box).
