Junji Ito x Hello Kitty & Sanrio Friends
Woke up Monday to an intriguing image showcasing what looks to be Junji Ito's character "Tomie" interacting with Hello Kitty, with my first reaction being: "Ai fanart"?
Soon to realise that this is a legit licensed collaboration between the revered Japanese horror manga artist (Features on TOYSREVIL), and Sanrio, for the purposes of a Pop-Up store opening on Japan, in Shibuya and Shinsaibashi!
Junji Ito's fictional characters interact with Sanrio's mascot characters, resulting in a mash-up of deceptively innocent looking graphics on multiple merchandise (*I don't see any toys tho :p), currently viewable online here, which includes the key visual available as a framed poster.
Stores will open from August 23rd try September 9th, 2024.
