THE GOD OF HIGH SCHOOL
I first watched the featured "THE GOD OF HIGH SCHOOL" anime series back in 2020, and honestly have been missing it loads, as much as I had been distracted with other splendid anime crossed my path since ...
And just as both Seasons 2 of Dan Da Dan and Kaiju No.8 had just ended (*sob*), I had begun to rewatch GOD, since re-uploaded on Muse Asia (and reposted below / *Do not be surprised if the videos get pulled somewhen in the future), somewhat keeping me somewhat sane from anime-withdrawals ...
SYNOPSIS: The main protagonist is Mori Jin, a 17-year-old martial artist from Seoul, South Korea.[4] At the beginning of the story, he is invited to join a Martial Arts tournament called "The God of High School" (or GOH). The event, sponsored by a shady corporation, brings together people from high schools all over South Korea on a regional and then, national level in order to select three representatives for the World Tournament. As a prize, the winner gets his wish fulfilled by the hosting corporation, no question asked.
What we witness is constant tournament fighting, with select individuals utilising "Borrowed Power" (from characters remixed fron Eastern-lore) engaging in fights, even beyond the ring and for the fate of the world they thrive in.
WHAT-IS: "The God of High School" begun life as a South Korean manhwa released as a webtoon written and illustrated by Yongje Park, and subsequently was serialized in Naver Corporation's webtoon platform Naver Webtoon (from April 2011 to December 2022). Followed by a mobile game adaptation released, circa 2015.
The anime television series adaptation was produced by MAPPA (aired from July to September 2020) and consisted of 13 episodes, since showcased here.
Initially I had imagined this series being (re)uploaded was to prepare viewers for the impending "Season 2", but have since found zero info to substantiate this notion...! So I'll just have to enjoy what I can watch now, and away other anime to return, including JUJUTSU KAISEN Season 3 in January 2026..!!!
Meanwhile ending this feature with the Ending Theme from GOD, "WIN" by CIX (Check out the Korean lyric'd version previously posted here back in 2020):
