TOYS & ACTION FIGURES Seen @ CHARAC+R FEST

And while I've previously featured (collected slideshow snaps) of my time at the inaugural CHARAC+R FEST event at Singapore Chinese Culture Center, specifically here I'd like to take a TOY-focused closer look at original character creations, from a variety of makers I'd managed to meet!

ABOVE: In-hand look at TISSUE ISSUES from Mox Monsters, both in blister-carded form (packaged in-house too) and bagged with header. Folks familiar with Singapore's "infamous-habit" would recognise this to be a "tissue packet", ready to be placed on tables to "chope" your spot (and risk getting pocketed by strangers muahahaha). Miss Tissue was produced and made in-house as well, and ready to be co-branded too!

BELOW: A in-hand look at a BOAR character creation (in two sizes), as hand-painted by MoxBox-owner Kenneth Tan (himself a painter/craftsman), with yet again figure made in-house! He is a part of a line-up of upcoming characters currently being developed by Kenneth, which includes a FROG (which was on display but I missed filming it), and other "rodents" folks in Singapore might be familiar with...

MOX MONSTERS is a modern toy factory based in Singapore, and offers 3D sculpting services, 3D printing & prototyping, in-house mass production (moulding + injecting) and even packaging! A quick glance thru www.moxmonsters.com and you'll see that they've done work for BLAXK, including display prototypes for ABAO X Astroboy, QUICCS X Astroboy and more! I've not had the pleasure of meeting the folks at GENFORCER at last year's Singapore Comic Con, but they were on-hand at CHARAC+R FEST, and I has a chance to meet 2 of the 3 creators @basilyeo (cheers for guiding me thru) and @just_fiqsan.

Inspired by real heroes and embodying the spirit of "Tokusatsu", Genforcer are three heroes who 'Gear Up' into the next generation response force. With the power of unity, their mission is to protect and save lives!.
(Event images also here on FB)

On-hand were prototype samples of (non-articulated) collectible figures of the principle Genforcer characters, and I truly wished I had taken videos of ALL OF THEM besides just one (seen above) tho!

I personally like the Tokusatsu-vibe of the figures, very much (pegged) uber limited articulated-releases, which honestly helps retain the form synonymous with the slim-slender(er) build, IMHO. I'd not asked if the endgame was to have oodles of articulation, but let's have that mystery and anticipation for now muahahahahaha

Mind you, the creation of GENFORCER was borne of a "live-action" concept, which will next branch into comicbooks, toys and merch, with the ultimate endgame being, well, "live action"! Trust me, the universe being built is as much miore immersive as you might expect, IMHO...! Looking forward!

From the printed page, Singapore based superhero "CRIMSON STAR" is to be an "action figure"! A painted prototype (made by @merthewiz) was on show, which included articulation! Stay tuned to @crimsonstarcomics for further developments and availability updates! Would love to share MORE with you folks, but all I can say now is; STAY TUNED!

A "surprise" highlight (at least for me), was seeing "SINH" from Kelvin Chan's CRYSTAL BLUE comicbook (Issue #0 just released, as published by CS Comics) in 3-dimensional form (Sculpted by @hairyashell, painted by @just_fiqsan)!

The endgame is to be a fully articulated 1/12 action figure, which'll mean tons of sculpted details might be lost in toy-translation, but hella excited for the possibilities!

I'll share more with you folks when they are able to be made public, cheers! Meanwhile, stay social via @rocketraygun
