SPACE VATOS by Barrio Boba



These salad days I rely a whole lot on "algorithms" to recommend what to look at as I doom-scroll like a maniac and discover on my socials ... and this was today's find that I really like! Introducing SPACE VATOS from El Paso, TX-based creator "Barrio Boba" ("the güey")!



On show are "Spooky Vatos" (Horror classic monsters), "Bounty Vatos" (Star Wars Bounty Hunters) and "Barrio Estelar" (Star Trek vatos)!

I am reminded of David Gonzales' "Homies", and this pop culture crossover is awesome, IMHO. The soundscape of Matt Bianco popped immediately into my mind (Listen here), and I appreciate toys that can link me to more than "just aesthetics" (but that's just me)!



Each priced at US$15 + $5 to ship in the US. Seek overseas availability and pricing via DM instagram.com/barrioboba. They'll come in bagged but with no header card or cardback. "It will take me approximately one week to make, prep, and paint each one." (@barrioboba).




These might not be what the creator had in his earphones while creating this (I never did ask), but they were to mine, when I first saw them :p
