Ambered

When I first saw this image in my inbox, I had thought "Kidrobot is collaborating again with indie artists? How wonderful is that?" = immediately thinking of Sad Salesman and his character embedded-in-ember-aesthetics... then finding out that that was actually not the case, with this being a release/preorder from a designer-who-remained-nameless...? Seems folks on their Insta uploaded (embedded below) have their opinions on the situation too...

Devil's advocate might well point towards "Jurassic Park" as inspiration (Ironically I've just binged on the series the past weeks ago too lol), but to my immediate knowledge @sad_salesman has been doing it for some time now (see embedded examples poster below, cheers), so this is a tad "familiar" to say the least - especially to global designer/art toy folks, IMHO.

But then again, maybe KR's target audience is no longer not necessarily the "art toy crowd", but even if it was, this situation does not help, IMHO.

One main "difference" might be the "size", with the Dunny towering at 8-inches tall. Sorry but no URL-links for the preorder here, cheers.

Actually there is no big "surprise", since Kidrobot was sold and purchased by NECA in November 2014, and the gradual move away from "designer/artist"-named release, towards brand names and licenses, I reckon it would just be a matter of time something like this crosses the stream. But if this Amber Dunny came with a "Jurassic Park"-official license tho...

What do YOU think?
