Depressed Monsters x Toys on Tap Launch ‘Yerman’ Soft Vinyl Figure
TOYNEWS SUBMISSION: Toys on Tap is collaborating with artist Ryan Brunty of Depressed Monsters, for "YERMAN" = a new soft vinyl figure inspired by different emotional states tied to depression," to be available via Kickstarter campaign featuring multiple color variants and traditional soft vinyl production.
TOY STORY: Originally created in 2012 during one of the hardest periods of Brunty’s life, Yerman began as a self portrait during a season marked by grief, isolation, unemployment, and depression. Since then, the character has appeared across apparel, murals, galleries, television, and designer toys, building a deeply personal connection with fans around the world.. (I've featured earlier incarnations of Yerman HERE on TOYSREVIL)
"Yerman started as a self portrait during one of the hardest periods of my life," said Ryan Brunty, creator of Depressed Monsters. "Seeing it become a vinyl figure after all these years feels surreal."
The 6-inch soft vinyl figure stays faithful to Brunty’s original artwork and features Yerman holding the character’s signature Skele-Heart.
The release includes multiple editions inspired by different emotional experiences tied to depression and mental health, including:
Blank Edition (Blank Expression)
Monochrome Variant (I Feel Gray)
— limited to 50 Clear Variant (I Feel Invisible) — limited to 50
A fifth edition, Kintsugi (I Feel Fragile), will unlock as a Kickstarter stretch goal once the campaign reaches $8,000 funded.
