a joker's smile (a batman viral wrap-up)
with all the online hoopla surrounding the ibelieveinharveydent viral campaign for the Chris Nolan-directed Batman Begins sequel: The Dark Knight, the past few days (starting with a seemingly "innocent" campaign-themed promo and climaxing with the reveal of the Joker and as fast as it came, it disappeared with an echo of HaHaHas) - i thought i''ll share a few thoughts (and images) on the fleeting courtship with the Joker with his rabid fans and naysayers...
... or basically tis just an excuse for me to muck-about with the Joker-image in photoshop (forgive my amateur work) for shittes+giggles lah ... *heh*

this is the "original"-image revealed online:
personally, i like what im seeing here so far, with a much darker incarnation of the Joker (be it comics or movies) so far - and with that mouth-slit "forcing" a "smile"? (hence a nod to comic-dom / see manip-pic here) ... lemme put it this way: [A] a psychotic+mentally deranged killer? = *coolness* ... [B] a nancy-boy with lame jokes and drama-queen-killer antics? = *a bore* (especially in a Nolan-flick? IMHO)
violently psychotic versus deliriously deranged - tis like someone mentioned (in a forum i'd forgotten where) that Jack Nicholson's "Jack Napier" was the definitive Joker (in Tim Burton's BATMAN) - well, i might agree to a slight degree, but tis only fit for the 80's! *LOL*
anyways, back to some ps-tomfoolery (:p) ... and so i thought; what the heck, let's just give him his iconic green hair, shall we?
maybe the green-do is a tad silly, but then again he's fighting a man-in-a-bat-suit ... so yep, let's go darker green, no lime-green highlights purleez! LOL
and since quite a number of fans+folks have a major issuewith a lack of tissue with his smudged lipstick (likened to a drunken make-out party-cum-massacre the night before) - i thought i'd clean-up the mess a tad ...
dude either looks like Ziggy Stardust on plastic-fumes, Robert Smith with a botched hair-job or a battered tranny-geisha with mouldy hair-fungus, yeh? tis no small wonder he's not smiling, innit? *heh*
and in the end, after all the hoo-ha, a coupla strokes here, an eye-shadow there, slits to the left and right ... the image/make-up is but a surface treatment, seen in many celluoid incarnations or even comics:
... and maybe tis up the actor himself (and also the director, 'natch) to portray the character best suited to the genre, while not pissing off decades' worth of history and continuity and most of all, the fanboys, yeh? ... and im sure the last thing anyone'll wanna see is a dude in a clown-mask, innit?
*heh*
