watchmen video-journal #1: sets & sensibility
director Zack Snyder says: "Here it is, the first of 12 video blogs that we will be releasing during the next year to give you an inside look at the making of Watchmen. We'll launch one every month on the 6th, so keep an eye out for them as they will be premiering on various sites throughout the year. With that said..."
SHH premieres "SETS & SENSIBILITY" = a delish behind-the-scenes look at the (production) set designs for the Watchmen movie, with Interiors from Dr Manhattan's lab (shown above), to Rorschach's jailcell, to Blake's bachelor pad, to Mason's abode, and out to the NY backlot (where they had the paintball-war) - makes me yearn for the good old days of film production (but not too much) - /// CLICK HERE FOR SELECT SCREENGRABS ;p
The Comedian / Edward Blake's Bachelor Pad Interior (Before Attack):
*notice Spilk Spectre's frame-pic on the wall image-middle?*
The Comedian / Edward Blake's Bachelor Pad Interior (Re-set after Attack):
*notice the cracked picture image-right?*
Rorschach's Jail Cell Corridor:
Mason Auto Repair Exteriors:
Hollis Mason's Apartment Interior:
- are those red-covered books the "Under the Hood"-memoirs? and peep the framed-
pictures' details, as well as the framed-pic of Silk Spectre drawn Vagras-styled :)
i liked noticed that the drawing of Silk Spectre is in both Blake's and Hollis' homes
= nice touch, IMHO
Dan Dreiberg's Nite Owl Basement Interior:
*it wasn't specifically mentioned/referenced (in the video, i think), but im guessing it is anyways - all it needs now is for one the doors to one of the set-in wall-alcoves to slide-open to reveal the Nite Owl-suit :p*
this might look a tad small for "ARCHIE" to fly thru tho ... hhmmm
Dr Manhatten's Apartment Interior:
the pink's a tad disconcerting ... image white-balanced in p/s from original warm-hued in-camera visual ... makes me wonder if Dr. Manhatten STAYS BLUE throughout the movie or puts on a "humanoid skin-tone-guise"?
Dr Manhattan Lab (Before Set-build) On-Location:
Dr Manhattan Set-build/dress In-Progress:
Dr Manhattan's Lab Interior:
Drawings for "Karnak" - Ozymandias' artic lair (i think):
boy's got a pretty unhealthy obssession with his Egpytian-fetish, innit? HAH
Production Designer Alex McDowell overlooking the NY city-streets backlot:
perfect reference of the Comic Shop :)
