Seen @ adidas Originals x Star Wars Collection Launch: Pacific Plaza, Singapore (Jan 15)

My balmy Friday-evening January 15th trek out to the (worldwide) launch of adidas Originals x Star Wars Collection down Orchard Road [WHAT] was met by a queue which snaked passed the front entrance thru to the side-alley, at the Pacific Plaza adidas outlet. The doors opened at 8pm prompt and the atmosphere was of a subdued excitement as anticipating feets shuffle ever closer to the bright-lights of the store-front, which was "guarded" by Storm Troopers from the 501st Legion (Singapore Garrison), while Lord Vader was mingling amongst the shoppers within.

THE QUEUE:

Groups of four persons were let in at a time, and I had met up with ANTZ and Eman within the darkened alley. By pure estimation, the orderly queue could have numbered between 80 to a hundred, easy. Via the convienice of SMS, apparently the queue at Iluma's adidas outlet (also launching in tandem) was not as intense.

THIS IS NOT THE DROID WE WERE LOOKING FOR:

Singaporeans love their photo-ops. The Troopers gamely posed with, pointed blasters at and made sure folks who hadn't lined up for the launch, were also having fun, IMHO. Even Darth Vader came out of the store for snaps! (Overhead at one point, a sweet lady asking a Trooper: "Can I hold your gun?" ~ tis good to b a Trooper)

There were no Troopers on parade tho (and it was naive of me to think there would be ...)

While no fights erupted (would've made quite an interesting scene :p), folks were quick to score their goods, which flew off the shelves. While waiting in line outside, a kind adidas-rep even came out to tell folks that the Storm Trooper Suprskates were near sold out (only 2 left on display!). By the time I scampered in, they were gone.

Princess Leias, Skywalkers and TIE Fighter Nizzas were nowhere in sight. The Yoda Boat was to be released in February. Even the "Famous Scenes" Micropacers ran out (the one within the display-box with the Bobbleheads were even snapped up!). Managed to score some random snaps of sneaks, for your viewing pleasures.

As the sign said, the first 100 customers to get a set of either sneaks or apparels could get themselves either a Darth Vader or Storm Trooper Bobblehead (from Funko)! Hoping everyone in queue got theirs! (And no, I did not as I didn't purchase anything, cashless-sod that I was .... *sob*). To me, the ultimate-cool was the sticker-sheet!

Hell, am liking even the shoe-tissue-wrappers! LOL

If only the soundtrack of Star Wars were blaring from the speakers, which would have heightened the mood (but probably would have been drowned out by the music coming from That CD Shop next door).

Last heard (which was last night :p), there is still stock at LE Vault @ 313 Somerset, while Leftfoot @ Cathay will see a launch next week (Unconfirmed news tho). Do call up and check first, yah? Happy Hunting, Folks!
