nerd prom
:: SDCC / FASHION / WTF ::
i first discovered the term "Nerd Prom" from Warren Ellis' webbie (where i learn all themdeviant interesting things from) ~ which was used to describe the yearly San Diego Comics Convention and of the varied folks/fans who "dress up" for the event (hence "prom", with an added geekery terminology of "nerd") ~ and these are some "highlights" for 2006 (with uncredited images culled from flickr.com ~ go search under SDCC)
you have the pre-requisite Star Wars-influenced costumers:
(initially had wanted to name this entry "storm bloopers" = iz that farnie or what? *bleh*)
and of coz, the Star Warsslaves"babes" ...
then you have the Supermen (alternate universes et al):
and other costumed super-heroes:
loadsa them, in all manner of shapes and sizes ...
a heady mix of heroes and villains ...
some media (film) related inspirations:
some hardcore costuming:
and this has my personal vote for "Best Of Show"!
for the sheer simplicity of concept and of a big-a$$ cannon, innit? *muahahaha* :p
and of coz, what's a "nerd prom" without the "nerd babes"? *ahem*
and these are the "safe" images, mind :)
kudos to those who came out in their costumes ~ a salute to their bravery and for entertaining all of us non-costumed-folks ~ hope y'all had fun too, yeh? *heh*
