KILLA-INSTINCT-PROTO-2

Pardon me for my crudeness, but I jizzed in me shorts a little when I saw these colored teaser-pics of KILLA INSTINCT by Marka27 in my humble little inbox ... Produced by BIC Plastics and set for an SDCC'08-release, KIlla Instinct comes with Finger-rings that spells "KILL TOYS", bolt cutter, spray-cans and markers, an impaled-bat and of coz the awesome looking gas-mask shown here (am a suckah for gas-masks, im afraid LOL)

KILLA-INSTINCT-PROTO-1
Also be on the look-out for limited edition collaborations with Blokhedz, Tribal and MontanaGold
= *coolness* ~ stay tuned for more developments.

  1. Is it just me, or are all of these vinyls with a 'graffiti influence' starting to look the same? Monkey-like face, bling, cans and identikit masks.

  2. "Monkey-like face, bling, cans and identikit masks" = all hallmarks of a graf-inspired figure, i reckon! LOL ... except for the monkey-face bit - primates have digits to hold the cans - thats why maybe :p

but yes, thy observation is spot-on, IMHO :)

  3. It just feels like Western vinyl characters are becoming staid, while Michael Lau can recycle the same character over and over again (as in his latest 2BB1) and still make them aesthetically interesting.

  4. A little history for you toy collectors. It's called
origins of graffiti characters/aesthetics. You have artist like "Wizart"Katch from Hawai"Vase,NY"
BUA,NY, Mode2 paris, MAC Crew paris and a long list of others who come from graffiti and learned from each other. If a graffiti inspired toy has that feel it's obviously to pay homage to the culture.
Lau is a great artist and so is TimTsui,Jason Siu but we all take from graffiti/hiphop culture.

  5. consider us school'd, Victor!

regardless of any and all influences, the enjoyment of each and every vinyl and toy - be it designer vinyl or mass-market toys - lies with each person's tastes, preferences and opinions.

of coz an "informed opinion" does help in the appreciation of a design or product, IMHO.

years ago it was all about Michael Lau for me ... now, I'm looking at Transformers Animated toys like a bright-eyed kid - which only goes to show i fall to the aesthetics of my own preference, at different stages of my life - all of which said, does not take me opinion away about KILLA being an awesome killer figure LOL
