And so the Scissorhands-tease is now a reality. Hot Toys is set to release a 1/6th-scaled EDWARD SCISSORHANDS articulated action figure [www] based on director Tim Burton's 1990 movie starring Johnny Depp as the titular Edward. I used to lurve ES, and remember it to be the second Burton movie that caught a hold of my <3, after Nightmare Before X-mas. So this particular figure has caught my interest and attention, if only for nostalgia's sake. I remember all of my "ninja-assassin" comicbook-characters I'd created after watching Scissorhands started to wear Eddie's quasi-S&M all-leather-strapped gear! LOL ... And also pretty interesting HT chose to make a Edward-figure now tho (also check out the Edward Scissorhands Cosbaby series!).
Featuring Hair sculpted by Joseph Tsang and paint by JC.Hong. The sculptor of the headsculpt is uncredited tho. (And yes, everyone else is saying it doesn't look like Depp - with all claims unsubstantiated). And thusly the highlight of the figure belongs to the Accessory Sculpt by Kouhei Okui and Clothes designed by Masayuki Ishigami, IMHO ... and the paper-cut bunnies are a hoot ~ *heh*
Set for a 4th quarter 2008 / early-2009 drop, the 1/6 Edward Scissorhands figure currently has a SRP of between HK$1,080 (US$139 / info based on mag-scan) to 22,000YEN (US$225) at Blister. Do bare in mind the price-range quoted is a tad far apart to make any sense, so do double-check with your retailer for final prices. Regardless, this may be the price for "nostalgia", I reckon.
