i hate toys! online (for now)
Tis only either 135-folks read and knew about the I HATE TOYS!-blog, or only 135-folks decided to give the poll a go. Tis obvious the other 3K-odd folks who visit TRE daily-ish doesn't really give a hoot LOL (sounds like a "I Hate Toy-Blogs"-topic simmering, innit? heh) ... and the Results AAAARREEEEE:QUESTION: Should this blog be rated R or can it be PG-rated?
ANSWER#1: Make it R with "strong language" warning. = 71%
ANSWER#2: Keep it PG-rated and the comments flowing. = 6%
ANSWER#3: Doesn't matter either way becoz I have nothing to say anyways." = 4%
ANSWER#4: See where the cyber-winds blow... = 17%
So the majority are out for cyber-blood, innit? WHOO-HOO!Let the Games Begin!

So Rated-R it will be - which just essentially means that whenever you log unto I HATE TOYS! - you will be greeted with this: "CONTENT WARNING: The blog that you are about to view may contain content only suitable for adults...blah blah blah"
CLICK for Posting Rules / Terms & Conditions. (Doubt if folks will adhere, but they be there anyways LOL)
First General Topic is: WHY HATE ON DESIGNER ART TOYS? WHAT DOES "DESIGNER ART TOY" REALLY MEAN TO YOU? = CLICKETH.
I may not be stirring-up the shitte all the time (unless I get myself up in a rage). Suggestions on Specific Topics can be emailed to me at toysrevil [at] yahoo.com (with the subject title: I HATE TOYS BECOZ) - only your Rant and/or Rave will be posted (not your name/s), but ONLY if it is found suitable for posting and a worthy topic. Do Not Chase me for when it will go online. That will automatically go into the SPAM folder. I don't cyber-owe you jack.
In time I will consider setting up a shoutbox on the blog, to take in topic-suggestions, but from the way some peeps abuse the TRE-shoutbox, I'll really haveta consider. heh.
Play nice, if you can.
Be nasty, only if you are, or can be.
Don't take it too seriously folks! This is just a space / cyber-corner of the www to vent about TOYS and ONLY Toys.
But if you are being serious, expect no answers from anyone, becoz that is not part of the program.
Do Not MAKE it personal. Do Not TAKE it personally.
Stick to the topic and have "fun".
Do you have stats on your current userbase? As in, do you know you have a significant quantity of readers that or minors?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm not sure I see the need for a second site. As in, have there been toys that you have been holding back from posting here? Or is it just some salty language? If it's just the latter, I'll be sticking with this site. But if it's other toys, then that's what would make me curious enough to venture over to the new site.
Please let me know! :)
heya Todd!
ReplyDelete"Do you have stats on your current userbase? As in, do you know you have a significant quantity of readers that or minors?"
ANS: No, the current database does not include info about minors. And I do not specifically know of any minors who visit TRE at all - which can also mean that even if they do, I don't know about them :p
I've received numerous PMs which I can only conclude are from "minors" or rather "early teens".
"Also, I'm not sure I see the need for a second site."
ANS: I HATE TOYS! is primary for ranting, whining and bitching LOL - which perhaps parallels forumboards, but with the "advantage" of being "anonymous".
tis still an "experiment" at this point in time, as i am also curious about how it would work, given the cyber-culture folks have been used to.
it's supposed to be self-sustaining, with comments of readers being the driving force.
"But if it's other toys, then that's what would make me curious enough to venture over to the new site."
ANS: I doubt if i would focus specifically on certain toys (all toy news will still remain at TRE) - unless tis via requests from "anonymous-readers" and their gripes with that particular toy.
then again, who knows? LOL
Hey, you remembered my name - *blush*
ReplyDeleteHaha! (I regret not having you pick up that figure for me at $70ish US. It's sold recently on ebay for as high as $600 - no joke! So $70 is starting to look like a steal now)
Just one man's opinion on what draws me personally to this site:
1) Pretty pictures of toys I have generally not heard of before
2) More upbeat postings from you; don't seem to be as negative as many of the American sites I read - and hell, I can be negative myself on those boards as well
3) Clean layout of the site; frequently updated; non-toy news is still relevant to the interests of those who would buy toys anyways
I saw all of this not to tell you to not make I Hate Toys or to push you away from considering it. These are your projects so you should always go with whichever way your passion leads you. But rather to just give you one readers perspective on what they're looking for when reading a site. There are tons and tons of toy sites it seems, but very few that are worth checking out on a regular basis and I'm here daily, if not more often than that.
In closing, you get the other site all up and launched, I'll definitely check it out; but just thus far, it doesn't sound as interesting as the current site is to me.
Regardless, hope my words help more than hurt - don't want to come off as an ass because that's far from my intent! :)
"I regret not having you pick up that figure for me at $70ish US. It's sold recently on ebay for as high as $600"
ReplyDeleteDUDE. now that does look like a pretty good deal now (but then 20/20 hindsight is always less expensive lol)
"I saw all of this not to tell you to not make I Hate Toys or to push you away from considering it"
nah, it's all good Todd :)
perhaps in essence i feel the need to "brain-purge" - or rather to unload the multitude of thoughts and impressions overflowing in my fetid mind, but alas there are so many hours in a day, and im struggling to keep in check 24/7.
i have close to 100-blogs in my cyber-stable, and numerous other online locales, and only I LIKE TOYS gets the primary attention, whiles other await numerous articles to be completed ... the frustration is also "interesting" for me, hampered by my lack of skill in wordsmithing, I feel. "Ability" versus "Desire" LOL
Ironically, i am a pessimist by habit and nature, but on I LIKE TOYS, im actually writing fun and having fun, which is a fab purge for me LOL - but sometimes, the darkness lingers still, and im trying to somehow find constructive outlets, to again, "purge". Would I HATE TOYS! work in that favour? Frankly, I think not. But I can only but "try" ... at the end of the day, it may be easier to click "Delete Blog" for IHT, than the many times I have somehow stopped myself for ILT.
It's so much easier to "hate". lol
I've also recognized that I LIKE TOYS has become very much a "bulletin-board-blog", where it's "the offer of the day" en masse, which is all good and still fascinating-ish for me (blogging about toys i'll never get to have, no less LOL) but at the same time, i want more, to do more - which may not necessarily be of an "intellectual" nature, mind (LOL) ... and so i'm trying to venture forth with various online "experiments", and perhaps to find a stronger direction for my "online-self", other than the current quasi cruise-mode i am on ....
Don't even get me started on my desire to want to paint, or to custom toys, becoz with all this blogging, there ain't time left in the day (or night)! LOL
itz all good lah lol
