KAWS 4ft Dissected Companion in Grey
Instinctoy reported that it was released August 22nd (above-right pic via / not necessarily of the 4-footer in question), while Hypebeast reports a USD$6K price-tag with a 100 piece limited run. Original-Fake does have a lone image on it's site (above-left) and as usual - with zero info. A quick cursory check via online auction haunts so far reveals nothing to shout about ... but frankly, does it really matter?Strictly for folks who can afford the price-point, and frankly if I myself had to choose amongst all previous Companion releases = THIS would be the one I'd grab! If I could afford it, of course ...
6 Gs is ridiculous. His work is ok at best. Not worth the price tag. As a collector I'm kind of getting tired of these extra large pieces people are producing. Who can really afford to throw around a grand(+)?

@Justin > the scary thing is that probably there are folks willing to plonk down serious cash for them (and they can afford it) - which may well be a mix between: (1) Serious collectors, (2) Retailers with storefronts, (3) Flippers hoping to make a buck or two - therein lies the vicious circle :p
ReplyDelete@TRE>Yeah, you make a good point. I can see what you are sayin'. Someone with 6 grand just laying around is definitely scary. LOL! ;) Even if I had the money, I still couldn't come to terms to purchase the piece. I guess it's just personal preference in that respects.
ReplyDeleteNow, if they made an 18 inch version for say 200-300 bucks, I could see myself making a possible purchase. That seems like a reasonable price range.
i like his old works more.. when he is still doing billboards and stuff.. now his works = $$ making for himself and company.
ReplyDeleteand he tend to "recycle" his works(toys) with all sort of sizes and colours.
