JUSTIN VOLPE: When I was a kid, every toy line in the 80’s had the “Must Have” figure. For some, that list can be quite long. For others that list could be called “Toys I never had, but always wanted.” Regardless, when you think of G.I. Joe, everyone can agree that the second version of Storm Shadow is epic, iconic, and awesome. Action figures have come a long way since then, but the impact of this figure remains today.

Long before Sideshow Toys released their 1/6 scale version of Storm Shadow I wanted to create my own 1/6 scale version of the character. My wife found this amazing site, Spoonflower, which could print you designs onto various fabrics. I designed a geometric pattern based on the original 80’s action figure and the artwork from the action figure’s packaging. After the fabric was made, I developed a clothing pattern that look remarkably like the artwork from the action figure card. Voila! 1/6 scale Storm Shadow Version 2.

JUSTIN VOLPE: Later on this figure would be the centerpiece in a G.I. Joe / Cobra themed art show, Cobra-Lalilulelo. The title of the show was a play on both “Cobra-la” from G.I. Joe the Movie and the codename “Lalilulelo” from Metal Gear Solid (which certain characters were brainwashed into saying instead of Cobra). [Text via]
