The Other Culture in Jakarta

WHAT: I was in Jakarta last year in late-September, as a Special Invited Guest by Plastic Culture for Munny World Festival Indonesia. I did not manage to finish my coverage. There are loads more to be shared. This is one such post…

with the opening of their third store outlet in Manekineko Space at Epicentrum Walk, it seemed pretty apt to take a look at one of their two existing storefronts (the other being Plastic Culture in East Mall) ~ featuring "The Other Culture" on the top floors of FX, The Lifestyle X'nter in Jakarta. T.O.C. is the "mother" shop to all!

I had the chance to only have a quick peak at the place during closing time (so these snaps might not do the space full justice), at the tail end of Munny World Festival Indonesia, when folks were transporting the Munny customs and winners to T.O.C. for display (hence the gapping space shown in the snaps below). It was a lush outlet indeed, featuring mood lighting and a boutique-styled retail concept, also featuring a stronger presence of apparels and jewelry, in addition to designer toys. A somewhat swell way to end my trip here, with the promise of yet another place to visit the next time I am in town, this time being when it is officially opened! LOL

Notice the port coffee-colored Jouwe vinyl above? If you did not already know, Plastic Culture is also one of the co-producers of the Jouwe vinyl figure, designed by Marine Ramdhani of My Tummy Toys.

One portion of the outlet (facing the storefront) framed by Uglydolls, was even utilized as a set for a talk show on television. I has always been a dream of mine to have a store-space that also doubles up as a set for a show, actually!
