C.I.Boys.com Website Testing
I remember "C.I. Boys" from years ago, when they had a dedicated storefront in CityLink Singapore (leading to Marina Square) - with multiple display shelves of designer figurines and accessories (most memorable of which is their mecha-walker - which I lauded and desired, but never possessed) they were a sight to behold, IMHO. They came at around the onset of BE@RBRICKS launched in Singapore, and was pretty impressive in their array to showcase blind-boxed designer toys of the orient. Then they suddenly upped and disappeared. And while I plyed the 1/6th-scale culture, I never did have a chance to score these desired 3" cuties. Or perhaps the mindset of Singaporeans were not as "toy-sophisticated" enough to appreciate the notion of "designer toys", much less a toy made from the East. Michael Lau or Eric So might have pathed the way for a select collective of folks, but they sure weren't lined with "gold" for the masses, IMHO.
Years go by. At the onset of this toy-blog, I had witnessed a variety of C.I.Boys making their appearance at Taipei Toy Festivals in 2008, 2009 and 2010 (and as well my first post was in 2007 -featuring DGPH's series!), And eventually, the name "Love Original Project" became synonymous with unrequited dreams and uncompleted ventures, particularly with our friends in the West. Even more years go byā¦.
Now C.I.Boys is poised to start afresh it seems, with the debut of a new website @ http://www.ciboys.com (currently at it's "testing" stage) - in time to celebrate their 10th Anniversary. Within the dedicated website you will find a catalog-story of their releases (FYI: Collections older than 2009 are viewable via "Media" clippings as far back as 2003 - which is pretty cool) as well as a myriad of figure-forms that seem well interesting - like designer-vinyl form "Mad Rabbit" and the Groovisions/Brockman / Playmobil-ish "Animody" series. Interesting indeed!
