"Darth Goes to the Disco" by Wiyoga Muhardanto for "Art Project" @ Star Wars Day Jakarta #SWDJKT
One of the more memorable happenings in the inevitable Art Toy Culture versus Star Wars history, is The Vader Project, helmed by DKE Toys, which resulted in a spectacular series of customized 1:1 scaled Darth Vader helmets seen in a series of shows and exhibitions, culminating in an Auction and published in a Catalog (which I do not own, but one day will find a way to … one day …), and by which every other project thusly, has since been compared and referenced to.
Seen on display at last weekend's Star Wars Day Jakarta, was this mirror-ball-styled severed Vader-head on show at the Art Project" exhibition arena. Titled "Darth Goes to the Disco", it was by contemporary artist Wiyoga Muhardanto, and while this was not a wholly "original" concept, it was a nice dash of reminiscence to be had, IMHO :)
And I have a feeling Darth is a "Earth, Wind and Fire" sorta guy, no? Heh :)
