Illustration Arts Fest 2017 (Aug 12-13)

Illustration Arts Fest” returns this year, scheduled for the weekend of August 12th to 13th, at LaSalle McNally Campus - featuring Talks and Workshops by visiting and invited artists (*These will be paid events – this festival is self-funded, FYI), AND the “Artist Market” (*which will be FREE ENTRY for everyone!).

Organised by Organisation of Illustrators Council (OIC Singapore), whose artists are illustrating the many different posters for the event, with the one showcased just below from one of my fav illustrators in SG; Erikatoon! Her work is EPIC, can? :)


PRESS RELEASE: ”This is the 2nd Illustration Arts Fest (IAF) - Singapore’s only indie illustration-centric festival! As part of the 11th anniversary celebrations of the Organisation of Illustrators Council (OIC Singapore), the Council is teaming up with LASALLE College of the Arts; and the community of illustrators in Singapore to celebrate all things “ILLUSTRATION” during this festival!”
"This is our second year partnering the Organisation of Illustrators Council to bring the Illustration Arts Fest to LASALLE. The talks, workshops, and networking opportunities with prominent local and international illustrators provide invaluable exposure for our students, not to mention the chance to showcase their work at the Artists Market," said Chris Shaw, Head, LASALLE's Puttnam School of Film & Animation.

The IAF2017 Edition Festival Highlights includes 4 talks by invited guest artists; Icinori (France), Anouk Boisrobert and Louis Rigaud (France), Chiaos 角斯角斯 (Taiwan), and Kristal Melson.

- Pop up book workshop by French artist duo (featuring Louis Rigaud and Anouk Boisrobert).


- Picture book workshop by French artist duo ICINORI.


80+ stalls at the Artists Market with illustrators selling their original prints, books and products 


- New toy launch from Mighty Jaxx with the POPek Black Edition.

- Portraits Afternoon
(Carrying on our tradition of the popular OIC monthly portrait events - get your portrait drawn by some of your favourite local illustrators and including visiting artists from Taiwan/ Malaysia! (Sample artwork on Facebook).

- Free talks by Tell Your Children and also the Heritage Comics group.

- Book signing events with Epigram’s Mee Siam Mai Hum Book by artist Jacqueline Goh / The Fingersmith Letterpress and a few others.

- Pann Lim of (Kinetic Singapore) & Holycrap’s special colour edition of their popular Kaiju monster toy (which were casted by Daniel Yu).

- Special FREE animation screenings from Cartoon Underground!

- Live at the Artist Market the popular comic artists including - Fishball.


- Special issue of Kult magazine for this festival.


Besides my blog-coverage of last year’s IAF, I’ve had tons of fun and purchases at the Artist Market for their inaugural event last year, so I am sure folks in Singapore’ll have a blast, AND support Local Artists and Designers in the +65!

Only 50 copies of this sketchbook of A5 size, 48 pages of almost all my #warriorCat plus some random ones. Very limited edition. All sketches r mostly done by #ballpointPen n some #watercolorPencil.

- S$20 per ticket for each Artist’s talk All 4 talks for just $60*

- Workshop is S$45 per ticket

"The IAF is focused on originally created content and narratives by independent illustrators who work in styles and art forms which are not commonly seen in Asia. This is distinguished from the more prevalent trend of superheroes, manga and anime themes.
