The Wandering Earth: EARTH RESCUER (Q Version) from Threezero & About The Film
In partnership with Beijing Culture, Hong Kong's Threezero has announced that they are producing a collectible figure from China's science fiction film “The Wandering Earth" ("流浪地球" / "Liu2 Lang4 Di1 Qiu2")! Introducing the "Earth Rescuer" – Q Version ("super-deformed") PVC collectible figure, showcased in the earth protective uniform worn by the Chinese delegation, of which images are featured here.
Standing 10cm tall, and priced at HKD 210 / RMB 180 / USD 28 (with worldwide shipping included) - online pre-orders begin February 19th (09:00am HKT) at www.threezerohk.com. Released in China (5th February), and in North America and Australia (on the 8th), the film is based on a science fiction novella of the same name written by Hugo Award winning author Liu Cixin in 1999. FILM SYNOPSIS: "The sun was dying out, people all around the world built giant planet thrusters to move Earth out of its orbit and to sail Earth to a new star system. Yet the 2500 years journey came with unexpected dangers, and in order to save humanity, a group of young people in this age of a wandering Earth came out boldly and fought hard for everyone's survival." Directed by Frant Gwo (who is also credited as one of the writers for this film), starring Wu Jing 吴京 ("Wolf Warrior"), Li Guangjie 李光潔, Qu Chuxiao 屈楚萧, and Ng Man-Tat (Yes, THAT 吴孟达 from classic Stephen Chow films!).
And while we've had our fair share of world-ending disasters and space calamity films from the West/Hollywood, this film is touted as China's foray into the genre, made with a US$50 Million dollar budget and adapted from a Chinese novella of the same name by Locus Award and Hugo Award-winning author Liu Cixin. Wikipedia also states that "It is a box office success, grossing over $600 million worldwide, largely from China where it is the second highest-grossing film of all time." and that "It has received generally positive reviews from critics, with The Hollywood Reporter describing it as "China's first full-scale interstellar spectacular".
There is no specific dates listed on IMDb (at time of post) of screening times/dates in Singapore, alas, and I have a feeling this fit would be best served watched on the big screen, IMHO.
