Acute app update: We have updated the Acute Art app to include a free trial sculpture. For the last several months we have been working towards the release of this app and really looking forward to having AR sculptures placed globally where we can invite people to experience and view them for free through our app. Given the current situation with COVID-19 we do not encourage the gathering of people at these locations but rather you enjoy this small version of COMPANION (EXPANDED) for a free trial in the comfort of your own space. Acute Art and I are completely overwhelmed and thankful for the way this project has been embraced and we love seeing all the photos being uploaded so please keep them coming... THANK YOU!! STAY SAFE!! KAWS / Acute Art @acuteart_ @KAWS #KAWSxAcute #KAWS #EXPANDEDHOLIDAY

PRESS: "Acute Art has teamed up with the artist KAWS to create a whole new way of discovering, experiencing, and collecting art. EXPANDED HOLIDAY introduces a series of augmented reality (AR) sculptures that break new ground not just for the artist, but for art itself."

This AR-event required folks to physically visit the allocated 12 locations around the world to view the AR-Companion (see in locations posted here), which included a monetary aspect to the COMPANION (EXPANDED): which was made available as 1.8-meter AR sculptures that you can buy online at US$10,000 per, in an edition of edition of 25 (plus 5 AP/Artist Proofs). Yes, you read that right, you are able to BUY A VIRTUAL sculpture.

But with the increased physical resistance in the era of "social distancing" with COVID-19 currently engulfing the world, a 45cm AR COMPANION (EXPANDED) has since been launched for folks to enjoy "free of charge in the comfort and safety of your home." (until 15th April, 2020). Download the Acute Art app online here. Featured here are some examples... You can still buy the sculpture located around the world though.

My personal "experience" with "Augmented Reality" somewhat begun circa 2010, for when AR was utilised in promotions to Marvel's "Iron Man 2" feature film ... and subsequently used as a story-telling device in 2018's K-Drama series "Memories of the Alhambra"... I'm "sheltered", what can I say?
