MY ARTIST STORY / "MAS" explores the story of artists who continue to pushing through challenges in order to create a brand and make a name for themselves in the global designer toy scene.



Launched in March 2024, thus far 2 issues have been released (A pre-release and Issue #1), with Issue #2 just launched for online order via s.shopee.com.my! Sized A4 / 64 pages full color / RM38.00 (Free shipping with orders 22-24 Jan).



"My Artist Story (MAS), Issue 2: Imaginary World", features interviews with renowned toy designers from across the industry, including Rato Kim (South Korea), Pucky (Hong Kong, China), Yeo Mei Ying (Malaysia), Julia Wee (Malaysia), Klaris (Philippines) and Winnie Yip (Singapore). In addition to these artist interviews, the magazine showcases toy collectors, presents the latest toy news, and offers recommendations for toy shops.



"Since we decided to create a toy magazine, inspired by Taiwan’s Utoyia toy magazine back in 2023, Utopia Magazine has primarily focused on Taiwan and Japanese toy designers. We wanted to create a version that highlights Southeast Asian and Western-based toy designers. After releasing the trial version and receiving lots of positive feedback, we decided to continue this project despite our busy touring schedule. Progress has been slow, but we’ve never stopped." Shared Michael Chuah.
"Now, with Issue 2, we are focusing more on female toy designers. Their creative journeys are always inspiring, and there is so much to learn from each of them. We would like to express our gratitude to all the toy designers who agreed to our interviews. We deeply appreciate the time and effort you spent answering our questions and preparing toy photos for us.

We also put great effort into studying each interviewee’s background and creations to ensure we conducted interesting and meaningful interviews. A big thank you to our team for dedicating their valuable time to making this the best it can be.

Here's a quick flip-thru of Issue #1, cheers! Personally I can appreciate "physical media", and quite frankly miss it more than I'd imagined. Then sensation of physically holding something in your hand, followed by the flipping of pages, feels so much more satisfying than scrolling with your finger(s), IMHO. Yes, call mer "old fashioned", I dont care MUAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA
