The "Return" of Fig-lab Finger Five

Spotted this on @instagram.com/fig.lab, for a release at the since-ended Super Festival Vol.92: The return of The Fig-lab Finger Five!

The project came about after 3 shows ("Global Figure Symposium") at San Diego Comic-Con, from 2009-2011, and with the line-up showcasing main characters of the western artists who participated in the GFS booth each year: The Sucklord, L'AMOUR Supreme, Paul Kaiju, MONSTREHERO, and Matt Doughty of Onell Design!.

I've featured multiple editions of Fig-lab Finger Five thru the years, and didn't think I would see them again, so this was a pretty awesome throwback, methinks! For both the collectible figures and artists/creators involved! And hopefully awareness for a new generation of collectors too :)

As for a "return"? Well, a small stash was recently unearthed in a warehouse and since been painted for SuperFes (seen up top), with a few more releases to be had next = So stay sharp, people!

Producer/Toy Whisperer Don "Datadub" Kratzer also added: "I am hoping to remake the mold next year (old one is lost) for Fig-lab’s 20th anniversary".

I had the opportunity to own the FRIENDS AND FAMILY" (F.F.F.F.F.) SET, back in 2013! Back when vinyl finger-puppet collectible figures was "rare" in existence in my toylife, at least on the fringe of Western art toy-scene, IMHO.

And I am enjoying the notion of a "collective of collectible designs", much like a co icbook anthology (which I love) and in a way a "mixtape" featuriong different songs (a concept that has driven my adult-life too LOL) ...but that's just me :p

Thru the years I had grown increasing fond of these guys, not least of all my current preference for smaller-sized collectibles, but also they were fab to bring around snapping toy-pictures of wherever I went!

As a "added bonus" to this blog-feature, are a couple of stage performances from 70's pop band "Finger 5" (Japan's version of the Jackson 5), where the name "Fig-lab Finger Five" was inspired by!
