What's Happening In The Art & Toy World (Feb/23/2011)
If it wasn't for @Agent R aka Ray Dragatomi (from the Dragatomi store) on Twitter, I might have been clueless about Leecifer's upcoming "HONOO" mini vinyl with Super7 ~ called "The Flame" (from the Monster Family series ~ strangely "St. Elmo's Fire" blaring in my mindscape), to be released in tandem with an upcoming two-man show with Paul Kaiju, happening Feb 26th. PK will his Partyball and Boss Carrion, as well variations of his SEAGOOL figure, shown below.

Ironically this might be better suited being posted in the "Custom Works" section of our Weekly Roundup, but tis for the group art show INHLE at Gallery1988 (blogged here), so here it shall remain to be featured, with the above "The Black Rabbit" by Amanda Spayd (one of my current fav artist), as well "280 Reposado" ~ The Beast Brothers' contribution, as posted below. Victor "Marka27" Quiñonez has this to say about the recent Asia Mingod release: "The Asia Minigod release was a blast! despite the terrible weather fans and artists made it out to be the first to own an Asia-Minigod. In attendance were Ritzy Periwinkle, Kano, Toofly, Blokhedz, and others. The Sixhundred boutique was bumping all night with music directly blasting through the Asia minigods. Also Marka27 painted the outside wall of Sixhundred and finished his ASIA themed paint job right before the storm hit."
As well sharing launch night pics with us, Victor also has both sizes of Asia Minigods on sale via http://marka27.bigcartel.com/ (which includes all specs for the speaker-toy, as pros=duced by BIC Plastics). And while I have none of his Minigods in my collection, somehow this version will be very welcomed, and quite a conversation piece in Far East here too, methinks!
Want to know about creating "Designer Toys"? Well, the National Library Board will help you out in March, with the launch of a 4 x Saturday's course, held by "Bear Fruit Academy". Starting March 5th and ending March 26th, click on the flyer-image to see details in full. Enrolement latest by March 1st by emailing Jane_FOO@nlb.gov.sg. The workshop is to be conducted by Matthew Hong from 8elephants. Interesting.

Nathan Jurevicius embarks on his signing tour with Dievas Dunny and we have two series of signing snaps to stare at: KRMIA / KRNY / KRSF (all clicks viewable in full browser-screen) ~ all of which feature the newest Dunny that looks one of the awesomnest in a long time from KR, IMHO. Hey, if I could afford one, I would get one all for myself! LOL
