V-Day plus one

:: LIFE IN SINGAPORE / FOOD ::
and so Valentine's was pretty sweet (what? ya didn't really take me seriously, didja? ;p) and as promised mentioned prior, we partaked of our "valentine's meal" at Eclectic Attic's Tea Cosy (and still the webbie's "under construction") ... and here are some food-pix with my personal review/opinion of them:

Starters:
The Zesty Tomato & Crabmeat Soup (served wif garlic croutons)
tomatosoup < was utterly delish. wif just the proper amount of tanginess and fragrance. *i like thick-soups* and this was just about right. an added bonus were the garlic-croutons - the trick is to add the croutons a bit at a time, so ya can savour the crunchiness without it all going soggy (me gf taught me that *heh* ;p)

Pan-Fried Foie Gras Taster
taster < six teenie-spoonfuls of sin temptation = aiyoh - mouthfuls of yumminess enough to tantalize and tease your taste-buds ... and gawd, i wanted MORE ...

Main Course:
lemme just say this: *i should have stuck with me fav Foie Gras*

to be fair, the oven-roasted Black-pepper-crusted Salmon Steak (with roast potatoe slices and asparagus) was pretty yummy, with the huge chunka Salmon surprisingly moist and smooth, the pepper not too overpowering (very apprecaitive) and the roasted potatoe-slices and sun-dried tomatoes were a perfect foil.
salmon < GF : Score One

whereas i had the Beef Steak (with Buttered Asparagus and Irish "Champ" Mashed Potatoes) ... and i couldn't even finish the spread. sure it looked delectable when served, but one bite and you'd be chewing on forever for a long time and after half the portion, i gave up and hid it ever so slightly beneath the dull mash-potatoe. maybe i should've asked for "medium-well", or maybe i shouldn't have ordered it at all ... t'was tenderized til a humiliating-massacred slice of packed-minced-meat disguised as a "steak" and i'd not go anywhere near it anytime soon in this lifetime or another - *nuff said*
steak < Me : Score Zero

Dessert:
The Rasberry Sorbet (sorry no pix, as i was too busy wolfing it all down ;p) was surprisingly delightful and not too heavy, blessed with a whimsical sprinkle of chopped nuts (almonds, i think) and a not-too-ripe strawberry-half = a nice end to a meal, me thinks :)

@ $59.95+ per person, it's "decent" value for money, considering the ambience (tho brightly lit) and service (Philip is ACE!) and tis Valentine's, innit? (*smacks-me-suckered-forehead*) ;p ... altho i should've just gone with the Foie Gras, innit? *incessant grumble*

and as for V-Day-pressies, the story is too long and embarassing, so i'd spare everyone the guffaws .... altho there are a coupla pics to satisfy your curiosity ...
box cupid
... okay, maybe not "satisfy" (*heh*) ... needless to say, she was happy and i am too - *all good* :)

and no, i did not give her any flowers. becoz that would be too much like everyone else, innit? ... (note to self: *remember payback*) *heh*
