captain america's shield seen in iron man movie?
UPDATED 24th May 2008: I'd been pwned = YES It Was - d'oh!
UPDATED 19th May 2008: It was not specifically a single tangible 3-dimensional shield - per se. = CLICKETH FOR DETAILS :)

peeped above-screen image apparently from IRON MAN on Firstshowing.net [via /Film] whereby Captain America's comicbook-iconic shield is shown on the table behind Tony (or a holographic-projection of) around the one and a half-hour movie-mark, which frankly, totally slipped my field of vision when I watched it priors (but am going for a Wednesday-screening, so will confirm laterz) and when I peeped my screengrab from an online trailer = *there was nothing*

[new screen-pic above versus old screengrab below]

speculation suggests that the image was planted only when prints went to screen, perhaps in yet another connection between Stark and Captain America (ala Hulk) ... regardless of the intent or effect, I reckon crossovers are cool, but like the comicbooks, too many and too much eventually gets tiresome and perhaps a tad "forced" and gimmicky ... but that's just me ...
while researching for this post, I found this interesting (tho unconfirmed) para about the upcoming Edward-Norton headlined HULK movie:
"In The Incredible Hulk, General Ross mentions a World War II program that created a super soldier formula to Emil Blonsky, who leaps at this chance to defeat the Hulk. Viewers see this as a nod to Captain America." [wiki]
one celluloid-step at a time folks, one step at a time ...

The crossovers are necessary. If you stayed for the credits you would have seen the teaser that alluded to an avengers movie. In the scene Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. speaks with Tony Stark about the "Avengers initiative"
ReplyDeleteObviously it's not the avengers without the big players like Captain America.
We've already got spiderman, hulk, the x-men(wolverine), and now we'll have CA. You can extrapolate other hero movies from this, unless of course they are introduced in the avengers movie itself. Thor being a big one. And I'm sure the Fantastic four will make a cameo along with other x men.

Dude, wish you could stick around more and longer, than we could nerd-out together, yeh?
F4 and Spiderman - only if they "return" under the fold of Marvel - movie-studio-wise, i reckon ... pity.
At the //ADAPT 2008 CG convention, once of the many conference presentations given was about the rigging, animation, modeling and VFX of Iron Man. The spokesperson did mention the shield and said that it had been planted as an easter egg (so not as a connection prelude) for the kicks of the team.
