"Customization and photography of collectible vinyl figures hase become a large part of the boutique vinyl toy world. Super7 is pleased to announce an art show featuring the work of a gaggle of toy customizers and photographers who are part of the Skullbrain.org community. 'It Came From Skullbrain' focuses primarily on the world of customizing Japanese vinyl Kaiju toys, no platforms." [via]

And a vibrant community it is, IMHO. (iLurk). How wonderous is it that a community gets together to celebrate and showcase their passions? The work seen and featured on TRE thus far has been nothing short of amazing (and not just because I posted about them, innit). And as of this time of post, it should be the early morning of the Saturday April 18th show-launch at 7pm (and I await with baited breathe for kaiju-lurvin' shutterbugs to start a'snappin'!). Meanwhile CLICK THRU to see a preview of the customs destined for the show on TRE :)

JEFF-SAYS: "1st impression of the show was "Wow!" There were so many beautiful customs and pictures. Everyone that participated has extreme talent and I only wish I could customize toys as some of these guys. Seriously, everything was eye candy; simply amazing! Super 7 put on a fabulous show and everyone that attended was super cool. Seeing the pieces in pictures is one thing but seeing them in person puts a totally different perspective to them. Extremely detailed! I only wish I could had walked away with every piece. LOL! The photos for the "Imagery of Japanese Toys" were also fabulous. There's definitely some talent behind the lens!"

  1. One thing that bugged me about the show was the overall presentation. They were all along the back wall with no signage and they just had price tags, the artists were not named on the pieces. Confusing!
Some of the pieces were awesome though.

  2. Awesome pics as usual Jeff. Did anyone explain why Real Head stuff was not permitted to be used for the show? I know Grim Sheep's piece got caught in that trap. He bought it from Super 7 specifically for the show and they knew that but didn't say anything until way too late. In the end he was able to submit it but it wasn't permitted to be sold during the show for whatever reason. Any answers?

  3. @Nadja > no nametags are not good, IMHO. Would be cool if there was a name with the price-tag - just a thought :p

but yes, even from uonder computer-moitor, they looked pretty awesome to me! :)

@Yardarm51 > whassup with that? that doesnt sound right... good to show but not to sell? hhhmmm

  4. @Yardarm51 > Thank you. To answer your question: As I understand it, no custom RxH figures can be made to sell or trade. If a custom is made, it can only only be used as personal gift. Even then you are not allowed to share images publicly on the internet. All of this is as per Mori's wishes.
