"Ganbatte Nippon! - You Can Do It Japan" on Facebook

Launched on Facebook is "Ganbatte Nippon! - You Can Do It Japan" where folks around the world are roped in to encourage the folks in Japan who are affected by the current multiple disasters (Nuclear reaction being the third event to have happened).

The initiative started with printouts being held by denizens in Tokyo (posted below) with the subtle "power" of encouragement via smiles and "positivity" (More snaps on FB). Since then the folks have stated on their FB this: "…we have been approached by a group of kind creative designers from different continents of the world who will lend their artistic talent in support of this cause. They will be designing their version of our signature [GANBATTE NIPPON] posters to be used for real in Japan for a street photography shoot. We will be assigning different teams of photographers to shoot it."

And while I can not authenticate the intentions of the initiative, the smiles are a nice touch. Check out the page here. Then I remember something I read on Twitter: "A Prayer Cannot Help Japan, Donations Can" (or derivative thereof). I reckon anything and everything helps now though.
