#TOYNEWS #TodayonTOYSREVIL: June 2/2019 Edition
These are just some of the TOYNEWS I'd come across my daily socials, dated June 2/2019.
#TagMe ...meanwhile, I'll be Facebooking and Tweeting too, Cheers :)
Did you manage to snag a "BAKU" on pobber.bigcartel.com before it sold out? Released June 1st, this was the online release in tandem with the figure being available at the myplasticheart booth #336 in Five Points Festival 2019 this weekend of June 1-2nd, which now serves as the only place right now to score this Candie Bolton designed 6-inch tall vinyl figure! Glow in the dark with soft green glow, online SRP was US$80 per.
Launched and listed on here June 1st is an interesting combo of both older and current releases of collectibles from Hong Kong based artists Yoyo Yeung @icywhiteyoyo and Helen Tam @cafedebollo.
PINANA THE PINEAPPLE BUN GIRL in both Regular and Variant from Helen can now be had for US$55 per 5.5" soft vinyl figures. The variant is the latest release, while the other was released circa Toy Soul 2018.
Brings me back to toy-memories of when I reviewed the resin incarnation from M’S PRODUCTION& CO. :)
Also available are ICECREAM SCOOP RABY from Yoyo Yeung, with the pink flavour a earlier release, while the "Chocolate Mint" edition is a new listing. Both 3.5" tall pre-painted soft vinyl cuties available at US$55 each. I like these double releases, as collectors can scoop up BOTH at the same time! Well played, @unboxindustries!
Tomenosuke has revealed a quartet of toy collectibles, in various stages of availability! Featured above is the "Thomas Nosuke Altaire Edition" of Doktor A's 8-inch tall sofubi figure, with this 5th Edition being a 3D Retro exclusive (June release)! Limited to only 30pcs, these are mixed silver glitter with black clear vinyl and splayed with silver metallic color.
Witness the return of Aya Kakeda's MICROBUS for the first time in three years. Shinji of Tomenosuke mentioned; "This edamame color (PANTONE369C) was selected based on our wish to create Microbus in a brand new color that provides a good visual balance with the previous 5 colorway. Yohei Kaneko from Mirock Toy does the coloring while taking in Aya's feedback. We are making preparations with an aim for launch on Saturday, June 29th, which is exactly 3 years from the last Microbus: To The Medetai Island launch." (tenshu53.exblog.jp).
Since my earlier WIP post, this image update features test pulls of Junko Mizuno and Tomenosuke's collaboration sofubi mini figure series (made by Obitsu Manufacturing company), and now has a name: "JUNKONOTOMO"! "It shrunk somewhat from the prototype of Tatsuhiro Fujiwara, and it finished in good size. This color is different from the actual production," added Shinji-san, "From this, we will start the sample production with Junko's designated color. By the way, the first edition of "Junkonotomo" is called "Melon"."
The 4th and final reveal is this MEOWLTING STRAwBERRY FLAVOUR from I Love Doodle x Mighty Jaxx x Tomenosuke! On sale July 4th (JST) online here (Japan only orders) and here (International orders), this particular edition is limited to 100pcs, each priced at 11,880 JPY (approx. US$110 / SG$150).
Scheduled for a online release here next Wednesday 6/5 at 12PM PST is Kenth Toy Works' NADSAT BOY Night Vision Edition. Priced at US$55.00, this unpainted glow-in-the-dark soft vinyl comes with its own resin staff.
Released at a in-store event at the Billionaire Boys Club's NYC Flagship on June 1st, was the BBC ICECREAM x Steven Harrington Cosmic Cone Toy featuring Mello outfitted in a custom BBC ICECREAM space suit, available in blind-box assortment of three different flavors of ice cream, featuring three cone flavors (pink, yellow, orange).
Produced by ToyQube (who had also done Steven x A Bathing Ape's AAPE), this 13-inches tall vinyl figure is limited to 400 pieces.
"...I wanted “Mello” to reference the classic astronaut pose while holding the original IceCream 🍦 logo from the early 2000’s. I was first introduced to Pharrell and Nigo’s BBC Icecream brand way back when they dropped the first skate video(which is still classic!)- Was a pleasure to work with the whole bbc team on this!" @s_harrington.
